CHRISTY FISH
Christy Fish is hard to describe with few words, she has lived many lives, and much like a cat has also narrowly escaped many certain deaths. She has lived in many small towns and a few big cities. She was never actually “raised” anywhere or by anyone as much as she simply “survived” in the company of wolves. She is essentially a self taught artist although she has both an AA degree from Walla Walla community college and a BA from the Evergreen State college, neither proved to do much in the way of art education since at the time she was studying to be an English teacher. So, after finishing school she became an anarchist, and then a drug and alcohol case manager at a shelter in downtown Portland. Then, following the birth of her lovely daughter in 2003, she quit working nine to five and stayed home to raise a little girl, selling commissioned paintings on the side. Three years later she realized she never wanted to go back to working nine to five and that her paintings weren't going to be enough to pay the bills and keep her preoccupied, she considered something she had never considered before...painting on people!
Since that fortuitous revelation the universe has unfolded accordingly for Christy Fish. Soon after getting her license in 2007 she began working at Adorn where she garnered a reputation as a sassy, straight shooting sweet heart with an eye for art and an ear for the client. Visually her work is inspired by early Victorian architecture, design and ephemera and she has an obvious affinity for flowers and animals. Famous only now for her colorful command of the English language {she has a potty mouth}, but soon to be famous for making beautiful tattoos.... she will be sure to make you feel at home and never make you feel like your ideas are stupid ones....and she just might make you feel famous too, for being the proud owner of an awesome work of art.
These days you can find her planting garlic in her garden or reading about garlic, painting for her next art opening or procrastinating on one, baking cookies with her kid or volunteering at her kids school, organizing a benefit show for Books to Prisoners or soaking with friends at the Kennedy school, talking to her chickens or walking her dogs, cuddling with her kittens or hiking with her hubby, but on Fridays, Sundays and Mondays shes all yours!
